OMAHA, Neb.—Metro Transit is upping its frequency on Route 55 and running two other routes later on weekday evenings.

The Board of Directors for the Regional Metropolitan Transportation Authority of Omaha voted unanimously to approve the service increases at its November board meeting.

Starting Monday, December 15th, Route 55 will separate from Route 15. This change will allow Route 55 to arrive every half hour during peak times: approximately 5:30 – 9 a.m. and 2 – 6 p.m. If a rider needs Route 15, they will need to transfer from Route 55 to Route 15 between 84th & Center and the Aksarben Transit Center.

Metro Transit is also extending weekday service on two other routes.

Route 4 will get an additional trip in the early evening on weekdays to extend 30-minute service later into the evening. There will also be an additional trip on weekday evenings to extend overall service by an hour.

Route 13 will also get an additional trip on weekday evenings to extend service by an hour.

MOBY hours in the area of these routes will be extended to match bus service.

Some other routes will also have small service changes: Route 5 will have minor schedule adjustments, especially on the west end of the route. These updates will allow for more time at both the Westroads Transit Center and the North Omaha Transit Center. The new schedule matches up better with Northwest High School’s afternoon dismissal.

Route 15’s frequency will stay the same. Every other Route 15 bus will head back downtown after arriving at the Aksarben Transit Center, instead of turning into Route 55.

If a rider needs to ride Route 55, they will need to transfer from Route 15 to Route 55 at the Aksarben Transit Center or before the two routes go separate directions at 84th & Center.

All service increases go into effect on Monday, December 15th. The updated schedules will be available on Monday, December 8th.
