Omaha is a vibrant place filled with history and worthy of exploration. It’s even better when you go by bus.

 This scavenger hunt is for the urban explorers who know life is more interesting when you’re armed with fun facts, curiosity, and a desire to never stop learning. It’s all in honor of Nebraska Public Transit Week. These questions are designed to get you into areas of Omaha you might not have gone before and come back with a deeper understanding of Omaha’s rich and diverse history. So, go, explore and learn more about this wonderful city we all call home.

The Rules

  • All entries must include the question number, answer, and a photo. Each answer and photo will be one (1) entry
  • All entries must be sent to outreach@ometro.com (please start a new email for each entry)
  • You can do the scavenger hunt in any order – photos must be taken during the hunt
  • Metro employees are prohibited from winning prizes

Metro Transit - Scavenger Hunt
Hello, urban explorers!
Find out about some of the places you can go with Metro Transit! Go on a hunt around town and enter to win some prizes from Metro. Happy Nebraska Public Transit Week!

1. ORBT features a famous athlete who called Omaha their home town. Take a photo of the mural and tell us which ORBT station it's at!
2. Lions, tigers, transit - oh my! Find the bus shelter nearest to the zoo, and include what route will get you there.
3. Nebraska backwards…what's that spell? What routes currently serve a transit center with that backwards name? You gotta get a photo of one of the buses there!
4. In 1953, the North Omaha community began a bus boycott because of the Omaha & Council Bluffs Street Railway Company's policy to not hire Black drivers. Which museum can tell you all about it and what route will drop you off right in front?
5. Swing batter, batter! Tell us which bus route is going past Omaha's baseball diamond and snap a photo of the bus or closest stop.
6. Hoping to catch some fish off of Ames or to run through the sprayground when the weather's warm? Which park are you visiting and what route drops off right on Ames Ave?
7. This mural is the first of many projects that hired children artists as apprentices. This piece was the first to use spray paint as the medium. What route takes you past this mural that celebrates the carousel of immigrants throughout the history of South Omaha?
8. From tennis to swimming to a dog park, this Omaha park has lots of options - tell us which route serves it and get a photo of one of the stops!
9. Not only can students at this educational institution catch a bus to campus for free with their pass program, they have plenty of routes to choose from. Some of their courses even teach the skills to fix Metro's buses!
10. With shopping and restaurants, this mall has a *view* for you. Tell us which mall and the route that serves it, and include a photo of the stop by the entrance.
11. On weekdays, 5 routes serve this transit center with shopping right by - tell us which routes can get you there and include a photo of the waiting area.
12. This historic neighborhood is home to the Winter Quarters and one of Zesto's locations. What route can get you there?
