Automotive Small Equipment Second Class Mechanic

Starting Schedule: 11:30AM to 8:00PM Tuesday-Friday; Saturday 8:00AM to 4:30PM

Starting Wage: $24.47 + 2% night premium

Minimum Requirements:

  • Good attendance and job performance record
  • 2 years current documented automotive shop experience
  • Possess a full complement of personal hand tools
  • Possess or have ability to obtain and retain a valid Commercial Drivers License and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certification
  • Pass DOT physical, back screen, drug screen, and criminal record check
  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record
  • Ability to work in a team environment, independently, effectively diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Basic computer skills necessary including use of Microsoft Word & Excel

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance
  2. Utilize good mechanical skills and proficiency when working on Ford Motor Company vehicles, including body on chassis vehicles.
  3. Perform vehicle inspections, overhauls, major and minor repairs, as well as on-going regular scheduled maintenance.
  4. Diagnose/troubleshoot all major component groups.
  5. Respond to road-calls and troubleshoot in the field, including but not limited to, changing flat tires.
  6. Possess and maintain tools necessary to perform the work.
  7. Proficient use of diagnostic equipment and all other equipment.
  8. Utilize proficient and effective time management skills in performing assigned tasks.
  9. Perform metal and fiberglass fabrication.
  10. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop and stand for long periods of time on concrete surfaces. Perform listing tasks up to 75 lbs.
  11. Work flexible schedule and work in different environmental conditions.
  12. Adhere to all safety regulations, policies and procedures.

BGE Fieldman

Position Title: Full Time Building, Grounds & Equipment Fieldman

Wage:              Starting Wage: $16.34 plus 50 cents after sixth & twelfth month of employment
                         Starting Days Off: Saturday/Sunday; subject to change to Sunday/Monday
                         Starting Hours: Training 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; hours subject to change

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years current documented general commercial/industrial building construction knowledge & repair experience
  • Possess excellent mechanical and metal working skills
  • Good working knowledge & experience with general plumbing, electrical, & carpentry repairs
  • Able to perform the essential job junctions
  • Experience working in a team environment; or with little or no supervision
  • Demonstrate ability to problem solve and multitask
  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Possess and retain a valid Commercial Driver's License, and possess & maintain good driving record meeting insurance standards
  • Possess basic computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word & Excel

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance
  2. Primary duties include various troubleshooting, inspections and repairs to all Metro properties
  3. Repair bathroom fixtures, drinking fountains, and general plumbing issues
  4. Repair/replace light fixtures and bulbs, outlets, switches and power cables
  5. Clean, check and repair HVAC and air handling systems.  Clean/change unit filters
  6. Perform on-going maintenance to all systems including bus wash, walk-through and overhead garage doors
  7. Clean floor drains and interceptors
  8. Perform roof repairs and exterior window/skylight issues
  9. Repair and maintain pneumatic fluid system, diesel fuel and gasoline dispensers
  10. Operate snow removal, forklift and construction equipment during all environmental conditions
  11. Perform landscaping and sprinkler system repairs and maintenance
  12. Report and respond to emergency calls
  13. Read and interpret label directions and understand instructions, including MSDS sheets
  14. Perform work at heights up to 25', on or off scaffolding, ladders, or portable lifts
  15. Work requires, but not limited to, heavy lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing, bending, kneeling, twisting and long periods of standing
  16. Adhere to safety regulations, policies and procedures
  17. Open and create work orders, as well as document daily work performed

Full Time Bus Operator

Position Title: Bus Operator

Wage:              Training Wage: $13.50/hr. (6 weeks)
                         Starting Wage:  $19.88/hr. (after completion of training)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Possess and retain a driving record meeting insurance standards
  • Able to work flexible days & hours and perform essential functions of the job
  • Pass Company designated training programs
  • Possess/obtain a Commercial Driver's License with air brake and passenger endorsement
  • Pass Department of Transportation physical, back screen, drug screen, and criminal record check
  • Possess good attendance and job performance record

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance
  2. Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicle for mechanical problems prior to beginning scheduled run to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and on-board equipment
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of streets, bus routes and stops within the Omaha Metropolitan Area
  4. Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all METRO operating policies and rules
  5. Provide safe, courteous and professional service to METRO passengers
  6. Collect fares, issue transfers and answer passengers' questions in a professional manner
  7. Requires sitting for long periods of time, ability to kneel, stoop and bend and other physical demands
  8. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  9. Assist in loading, securing, and unloading wheelchairs and passengers based on the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
  10. Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize the risk of accidents and any injuries
  11. Operate bus in efficient and timely manner in accordance with all applicable traffic rules, regulations and laws
  12. Communicate effectively with dispatch personnel via two way radio
  13. Adjust to variables in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger problems, accidents and trip changes
  14. Complete accurate and legible accident and/or incident reports at the end of scheduled shift
  15. Other duties as assigned

Full Time Paratransit Operator

Position Title: Paratransit Operator

Wage:              Training Wage: $11.00/hr.
                         Start Wage:       $16.60/hr.  (after completion of training)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possess good attendance and job performance record
  • Be at least 25 years of age
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Possess and retain a driving record meeting insurance standards
  • Able to perform essential functions of job and assist all passengers with disabilities
  • Able to work varying shifts, days & hours
  • Successfully complete Company designated training programs
  • Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, back screen, drug screen, and criminal record check

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance
  2. Perform pre-trip inspections of paratransit vehicle for mechanical problems prior to beginning scheduled run to ensure proper operating condition of vehicle and on-board equipment
  3. Successfully perform scheduled manifest by picking up all MOBY clients on time and delivering them to their destinations safely and within a reasonable time frame
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of streets, bus routes and stops within the Omaha Metropolitan Area
  5. Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all METRO operating policies and rules
  6. Provide safe, courteous and professional service to MOBY passengers
  7. Requires stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and other physical demands in order to assist MOBY passengers with disabilities to safely board and de-board and ride paratransit vehicles
  8. Ensure the safety of all passengers by use of appropriate on-board restraints
  9. Employ all techniques of defensive driving to minimize the risk of accidents and any injuries
  10. Communicate effectively with dispatch personnel via two way radio
  11. Adjust to variable in normal working conditions, including adverse weather, traffic and construction, passenger problems, accidents and trip changes
  12. Complete accurate and legible accident and/or incident reports at the end of scheduled shift
  13. Maintain and record odometer readings and times as required
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Utility/Placer

Position Title: Utility/Placer

Starting Schedule: Friday thru Monday full-time hours (hours to be determined)
Starting Wage:       $23.13/hr. + 2% night premium

Minimum Requirements:

  • Good job history and attendance record
  • Possess/obtain and retain a valid Commercial Drivers License and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certification
  • Pass DOT physical, back screen, drug screen, and criminal record check
  • Demonstrate and maintain a safe driving record
  • Possess and demonstrate minimal mechanical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use a variety of equipment
  • Possess strong attentional to detail
  • Ability to read label directions and understand instructions
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Regular and predictable attendance
  2. Ensure all Company vehicles are completely fueled and fluids topped, and ready for service
  3. Document fuel and fluids usage
  4. Operate and park all Company vehicles according to facility parking plan.  Complete bus placer sheets
  5. Perform probing and vaulting of cash fare boxes
  6. Maintain and keep fueling area clean, contain any spills immediately and report to the appropriate personnel
  7. Clean exterior of fleet vehicles
  8. Perform inspection of all fleet vehicles
  9. Report any maintenance issues to supervisor
  10. Drain and alcohol air tanks
  11. Conduct weekly coolant checks.  Clean radiator and charge air cooler, when required
  12. Change vehicle tires as needed. Perform regular checks of tires and wheels
  13. Perform light maintenance repairs.  Conduct service road-calls
  14. Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  15. Must be able to lift and manipulate heavy cash boxes
  16. Must be able to lift engine doors/hoods, handle tires/wheels, and tire irons
  17. Perform other duties as assigned
